Philip Verduyn Lunel obtained a double bachelor degree in Physics and Mathematics at the University of Amsterdam and a master degree in Theoretical Physics at Utrecht University. His bachelor thesis was on detectability of community structure in networks.

In his master thesis Philip used a simulator of a quantum computer to simulate physical fermionic systems to find instances of many-body localization.

In January 2020 Philip started his PhD at CWI under the supervision of Harry Buhrman in the area of quantum computing.
