Tom Bannink received a double bachelor's degree in Mathematics and Physics at Utrecht University (2013) and a master's degree in Theoretical Physics (2015). His master's thesis, titled "Theory of gas bubbles around heated nanoparticles", is about a theoretical framework to describe recent observations of nanoscale vapor generation around nanoparticles. Tom has always had an interest in algorithms, and enjoys algorithmic programming contests. In September 2015 he started his PhD research on Quantum Random Walks, under the supervision of Prof.dr. Harry Buhrman and Prof.dr. Frank den Hollander.
