NETWORKS at Imaginary 2022
On Thursday the 2nd of June "IMAGINARY: beauty and power of mathematics" will open its doors in Leiden. From the 2nd of June and throughout the school year 2022-2023 the exhibition can be visited and experienced. This new IMAGINARY exhibition in The Netherlands is organized by the Dutch Platform for Mathematics, in collaboration with Dutch universities, and supported by partner organisations. The exhibition runs simultaneously in Flanders, where the Flanders Platform for Mathematics is the driving force.
"There will be free guided tours for school classes and other interested parties at each location. The exhibition includes numerous top-quality posters, a series of 3D objects, puzzle setups, and several interactive apps that visitors can engage with via large touchscreens. Mathematics: surprisingly diverse, appealingly beautiful, and stunning applications!"
NETWORKS will also be present at IMAGINARY! During the last months, we collaborated together with scientists from different fields related to networks, with a goal to make four posters showing modern applications and research in networks! The fours posters concern the following topics:
-
Dispatching experts to do maintenance. The poster was created by Stella Kapodistria, assistant professor in the section Stochastics of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the Eindhoven University of Technology, and Peter Verleijsdonk, Doctoral Candidate at the Eindhoven University of Technology.
- From tweets to communication networks. The poster was created by Anna Priante, assistant professor at the Department of Technology and Operations Management (Business Information Management section) at the Rotterdam School of Management, Erasmus University.
- The Travelling Salesman Problem. The poster was created by Frans de Ruiter who works at the Dutch Data Science Company CQM in Eindhoven.
- Structure in social networks. The poster was created by Clara Stegehuis, assistant professor at Twente University.
