Jop Briët obtained his PhD from CWI and the University of Amsterdam in 2011. After, he was a post-doc at CWI and the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences at New York University on an NWO Rubicon Fellowship. He is broadly interested in mathematics and theoretical computer science. His work includes the study of quantum entanglement, coding theory and approximation algorithms, and often applies techniques from Banach spaces, combinatorics, harmonic analysis and probability. For his PhD thesis he was awarded the Stieltjes prize and the Andreas Bonn medal. His work is currently supported by an NWO Veni grant.
