Sem Borst receives the 2017 ACM SIGMETRICS Achievement Award

Sem Borst (TU Eindhoven and Nokia Bell Labs) received the 2017 ACM SIGMETRICS Achievement Award.

Borst, Sem2

This prestigious prize is awarded annually to an individual for fundamental contributions to performance analysis of computer- and communication networks.

Borst's contributions to areas like wireless networks, polling systems, heavy-tailed asymptotics, heavy-traffic analysis, random-access algorithms, channel-aware scheduling and load balancing are widely acknowledged for their impact on both theory and practice, leading to many high-impact publications in top journals and conferences, and 28 patents.

Sem Borst: “I feel delighted and extraordinarily honored with this award, and am grateful for the opportunities that TU/e and Nokia Bell Labs have offered me. Above all, however, it is a time when I feel extra privileged and thankful for the collaboration with my colleagues and PhD candidates at TU/e, but also at Nokia Bell Labs and beyond. Without the wonderful collaboration with them, I would not have had the honor of receiving this award.”
