  • Cum laude distinction for Pieter Kleer

    On September 9th, Pieter Kleer successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled "When Nash met Markov: Novel results for pure Nash equilibria and the switch Markov chain" at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. Pieter received the cum laude distinction for his research on the quantifying effect of safety margins in route planning.

     

  • Veni grant for Yorgos Amanatidis

    The Dutch Research Council (NWO) has awarded a Veni grant worth up to 250,000 euros to Yorgos Amanatidis for his project 'Fair Division in Dynamic Environments with Social Structure'. This grant providese Yorgos with the opportunity to further elaborate his ideas during a period of three years.

     

  • NWA-ORC grant for project PrimaVera

    A multidisciplinary team from the Eindhoven University of Technology together with several scientists and companies, receives five million euros from science funder NWO for the "PrimaVera: Predictive maintenance for Very effective asset management" project.

     

  • Cum laude distinction for Sándor Kisfaludi-Bak

    On June 27th, Sándor Kisfaludi-Bak successfully defended his PhD thesis entitled 'ETH-Tight Algorithms for Geometric Network Problems' at TU Eindhoven. He received his degree cum laude, a very rare distinction that is only given for outstanding results that have been obtained with a very high level of independence.

    2018 has been quite a remarkable year for NETWORKS, with great scientific progress
    and many highlights. In this fifth year of the funding period, the program continues to

  • Onno Boxma receives royal decoration as binding force in the field of Dutch math

    Onno Boxma was appointed Knight of the Order of the Netherlands Lion at his home in Nuenen on April 26th. Onno was presented with the royal decoration by mayor Maarten Houben in the presence of his family and some close colleagues.

     

  • Souvik Dhara wins Stieltjes Prize

    Souvik Dhara, who was awarded his PhD with distinction at the TU/e last year, has been awarded the Stieltjes Prize for the best mathematics PhD thesis of 2018 in the Netherlands. Souvik, now a Schramm postdoctoral fellow at MIT Mathematics and Microsoft Research Lab New England, defended his thesis entitled ”Critical percolation on random networks with prescribed degrees” under the supervision of Remco van der Hofstad and Johan van Leeuwaarden.

     

  • Frank den Hollander receives Humboldt Research Award

    Frank den Hollander has received the Humboldt Research Award at a ceremony for the Humboldt award winners on 29 March 2019 in Bamberg. He was nominated by two German colleagues with whom he is working together for an extensive period of time. ‘The award was a complete surprise to me.'
